Teaching Artist & Educator
With a background spanning museum education, arts-integrated instruction, theatre for young audiences, and community-centered program design, I bring a creative, inquiry-driven, and equity-focused approach to engaging diverse learners.
Most recently, as an Educator at the Newark Museum of Art, I facilitated more than fifty gallery, studio, and public programs for children, teens, adults, and intergenerational audiences. In this role, I used inquiry-based strategies to connect visitors with artworks and objects, adapted content for varied learning needs, and collaborated closely with education staff to align experiences with exhibition themes and institutional learning goals. This work strengthened my ability to design welcoming, participatory environments that foster curiosity, dialogue, and personal connection.
My parallel experience as a Teaching Artist with organizations such as New York City Children’s Theatre, Partnership with Children, and Living Voices and most recently Theatre of the Oppressed NYC, has given me a strong foundation in arts-integrated curriculum design, SEL-based learning, and theatre-driven engagement. Whether facilitating multi-week residencies, leading community-centered workshops, or performing historically grounded theatre works for student audiences across multiple states, I strive to create inclusive learning spaces that honor students’ identities, stories, and creative potential.
My primary focus as an educator is to encourage my students/participants to use their personal stories and celebrate their identities (and that of others) in the hope that doing this will allow them to become more comfortable with sharing every aspect of themselves unapologetically. I have found that this approach encourages others to listen and realize the similarities we have to others outside of our community. I have found that this approach has worked in both museum settings as well as in and out of the classroom. I dive into this further with my thesis (found below) "The 'My Story' Project: A Celebratory Journey in Unmasking the Power of Identity and Personal Story in the Arts."
